The present day dire global eco-social crises of Planet Earth document the bad accounting of Earth's self-reflective inhabitants. Planet Earth is radically imperiled by the self-destruction of greed, resource consumption and warfare.

This terminal effrontery of humankind and the pusuits of RELIGIOUS/ POLITICAL MISDIRECTION need to be reversed if the precipitous and radical degradation of Earthlife, including human, is to reversed.

As the Democratic National Convention opens in Denver, here’s an irony worth pondering: Perhaps the most disappointed group in America over the choice of a Roman Catholic as the party’s nominee for Vice-President may well be the country’s Catholic bishops.

That’s not necessarily any reflection on the personal merits of Delaware Senator Joseph Biden, but rather what kind of Catholic he is, and what that means for the American bishops between now and November 4 (and perhaps for four or eight years after that).

Moving Cardinal Newman's body runs into controversy

Cardinal John Henry NewmanThe Catholic church’s attempt to exhume and quietly move the body of Cardinal John Henry Newman has run into controversy, with some saying Newman’s dying wishes are being ignored.

Church officials plan to move Newman’s remains from a grave in a small cemetery in the English town of Rednal to the Oratory church in the city of Birmingham where it will be transferred to a marble sarcophagus and can be venerated by pilgrims.
