Former CIA official says Islam not source of Middle East conflicts

VANCOUVER, British Columbia -- Angry, violent reformers and terrorists would have arisen out of the Middle East whether Islam had been born or not, says a former top CIA official.
"A world without Islam would still see most of the enduring bloody rivalries whose wars and tribulations dominate the geopolitical landscape," Graham Fuller, the CIA's former head of long-term strategic planning, writes in the cover story of this month's issue of the magazine Foreign Policy.
As abortion rates fall, opposition keeps up

WASHINGTON -- The anti-abortion pilgrims came from far and wide Tuesday (Jan. 22), by bus and by plane, bundled up in the cold and drizzle to support their cause.
For some, it was their first March for Life. For others, the event has become a yearly journey. On the 35th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion, their united message was clear: They are not satisfied with the declining abortion statistics. They want an end to all abortions, surgical and non-surgical.
